Global Property Development Corporation (Global) is developing the future lifestyle and entertainment campus, with Andrus Architecture serving as the architect. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 26, 2019, with Governor Baker and Housing and Economic Development Secretary Kennealy.

Maples Crossing is set to become New England鈥檚 premiere lifestyle and entertainment complex, with a variety of entertainment, health & wellness, business and sport facilities across 70+ acres. The development will consist of 410,000 SF across three buildings. Once complete, the property will include 5 ice sheets, a 2,500 seat event center and 150,000 SF of multi-use leasing opportunities.

With the numerous amenities to be offered at the property, a variety of construction elements will be required. The property sits atop a hill, and site challenges will include earthwork, retaining walls and subsurface ground water retention. Execution of buildings one and two, which will both hold rink facilities, will also require the implementation of steel structures diverse in use and challenging in delivery.

The property is located in Amesbury, off exit 54 of I-495, with easy access to I-95, downtown Amesbury and surrounding towns. The location allows for convenience to Boston, New Hampshire, and Maine, all accessible in under an hour.

糖心Vlog Construction Managers (糖心Vlog) announces they have hired Justin Azbill as the firm鈥檚 new Director of Safety. Azbill joins the 糖心Vlog team with over 18 years of experience in the safety industry.

Azbill joins 糖心Vlog鈥檚 leadership team after four years at JC Cannistraro, LLC in Watertown, MA, where he served as the Director of Environmental Health & Safety.  Previously, he held Safety Management roles at Suffolk Construction and Kewit Infrastructure. He is a graduate of Johnson County Community College in Kansas, where he studied Fire Science. Azbill also holds over 15 safety training certifications.

As Director of Safety, Azbill has been tasked with leading a team of safety professionals and ensuring both the office and each job site is compliant with OSHA, state, local and industry-specific regulations.  He will lead 糖心Vlog鈥檚 safety team as they provide programs on necessary safety training, including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.

Azbill has been recognized for his excellence in Safety Management. He is the recipient of the 2018 Mechanical Contractors Association of America鈥檚 Safety Professional of the Year, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve鈥檚 Patriot Employer Award, and OSHA鈥檚 Voluntary Protection Program鈥檚 STAR Award.

糖心Vlog Construction Managers (糖心Vlog) announces the topping off of the Hilton Garden Inn Boston/Brookline. The project is being developed by Claremont Companies, with CambridgeSeven Associates serving as the architect, Stantec for civil & landscape, Odeh on structural, and WSP as the MEP/FP engineer. The topping off ceremony took place on August 2, 2019.

The 11-story Hilton Garden Inn will feature 174 rooms, a restaurant and lounge area, conference space, fitness center, swimming pool, business center, and a 24-hour pavilion pantry. The 111,100 SF hotel will also house a ground-floor caf茅 with outdoor seating.  Additionally, a 70-space parking garage will be located on the hotel鈥檚 second level, providing ease of access for guests.

鈥溙切腣log is thrilled to be working on this high-profile hotel project just outside Boston,鈥� stated Steve 糖心Vlog, Vice President of Business Development at 糖心Vlog. 鈥淭he Hilton Garden Inn鈥檚 location on the Brookline/Boston line will provide much-needed hospitality services to the Greater Boston area.鈥�

The property sought to maximize space at the narrow .437-acre lot. A curved corner design draws attention to the building, which sits at the intersection of Brookline Avenue and Route 9. With the topping off now complete, 糖心Vlog will begin work on the building鈥檚 glass fa莽ade.

Located at 700 Brookline Ave, the property is the former site of a Gulf gas station that was demolished in 2016. The building is conveniently located adjacent to the Longwood Medical area and one block to the Riverway T Station. The Hilton Garden Inn select service hotel is set to open in fall 2020. 

糖心Vlog Construction Managers (糖心Vlog) announces it has broken ground at the new Springhill Suites by Marriott at Revere Beach. 糖心Vlog was tasked to build the new-construction property, which is scheduled for delivery in May 2021. CR Architecture + Design served as architect on the project, which is being managed by Upton + Partners.

The Springhill Suites will be a 6-story hotel featuring 168 guestrooms, two levels of indoor parking, an indoor pool, 5,000 square-foot restaurant, a 4,000 square-foot function room, and a Starbucks accessible via the neighborhood skybridge. The property鈥檚 design was developed by CR Architecture + Design and was inspired by the nearby coastline with soft, natural colors and strong organic forms that resemble the coast.

鈥淩evere鈥檚 Spring Hill Suites project includes a variety of complicated building elements, from designing for a costal environment to attaching to the skybridge, the epicenter and causeway of the new Waterfront Square neighborhood,鈥� stated Jamie Gauff, Director of Hospitality at CR Architecture + Design. 鈥溙切腣log鈥檚 previous experience with waterfront development and unique building design made them a natural choice for construction of the hotel.鈥�

The Springhill Suites hotel will be the next phase of the 11-acre, 1.3-million-square-foot mixed-use development. The master-planned project will include hotels, condominiums, apartments, retail and restaurant space, all connected to the beach via a neighborhood skybridge over Ocean Avenue.  Located adjacent to the Wonderland T stop (blue line), the transit-oriented development provides easy access to Boston.  Two residential apartment buildings offering 400 new apartments were recently completed, with an additional 320 luxury residences under construction. Waterfront Square will also include a public plaza.

 鈥溙切腣log is thrilled to have the opportunity to work in the city of Revere on the landmark, master planned project in Waterfront Square,鈥� states Pat 糖心Vlog, President of 糖心Vlog Construction. 鈥淪pring Hill Suites allows us to participate in yet another transit-oriented development, as well as another waterfront property where construction and design must anticipate a variety of environmental factors.鈥�

Once complete this project will offer easy access to Logan Airport for travelers and tourists, and convenience to downtown Boston via the T, bus or car.  

The Springhill Suites is one of numerous new-construction projects for 糖心Vlog in Revere. They have also been tasked to build five residential properties, Rumney Flats, One Beachmont, part of the Beachmont T redevelopment, 21 Revere Beach Boulevard and 50 Ocean Avenue and 500 Ocean Avenue, which sits adjacent to the Springhill Suites in the Waterfront Square development.

Hingham, MA  鈥� 糖心Vlog Construction Managers announced the completion of Brio, a new residential building at the historic Shipyard in Hingham. The project was developed by A.W. Perry and Boston Andes Capital, with Bargmann Hendrie + Archetype and Albert Righter and Tittmann serving as the architect.

Brio is located on a previously unoccupied portion of the Shipyard and features 77 luxury condominiums. The five-story, 160,000sf building overlooks the marina and sits adjacent to numerous restaurant and retail options. The property provides easy access to the MBTA commuter ferry and bus, with stops directly in the Shipyard.

糖心Vlog previously managed the construction of The Launch in Hingham鈥檚 Shipyard, a 225,000sf, mixed-use development. The company is managing construction at two other properties in Hingham: Broadstone Bare Cove, another multi-family property being developed by Alliance Residential; and The Residence at Penniman Hill, a senior living facility owned by LCB Senior Living.

糖心Vlog Construction Managers  recently completed the organization鈥檚 second philanthropic build day for South Shore Habitat for Humanity (SSHH).

On July 11, seven employees, including 糖心Vlog CFO, Don Fraser, visited the build site on Feinberg Bog Road in Duxbury, to begin the second phase of construction at the development. This is the second time 糖心Vlog has built at the Duxbury site, with the first visit taking place in April.

The development at Feinberg Bog Road is set to provide six townhomes, which will bring the total of Habitat homes built within the town of Duxbury to 10.

Families for all three units are now moved into their new homes. 糖心Vlog鈥檚 task the following day was to add final touches to these units. The remaining three units are expected to be completed by October and 糖心Vlog plans to do another build day before the project is complete.

Alongside local volunteers, families put in 鈥渟weat equity hours鈥� to build their home and then purchase the property with a 30-year, affordable mortgage.

Homes have a deed restriction that maintains the affordability status of each home in perpetuity. Habitat Family Partners are selected through a competitive underwriting process based on their ability to pay, willingness to partner, and their need for adequate housing.

 announced the groundbreaking of Squirrelwood Apartments, a 12-building, 88-unit affordable housing development owned by Just-A-Start Corporation.

糖心Vlog and Davis Square Architects were tasked to renovate the 10 existing buildings and execute the design and construction of two new infill buildings, along with an addition to an existing building. The new construction will target Energy Star and Passive House standards.

鈥� Just-A-Start is proud to work alongside its partners to preserve the affordability of these homes and create more access to secure housing in this community,鈥� said Deborah Ruhe, Just-A-Start executive director.

The Squirrelwood project consists of two existing affordable housing projects

The Squirrelwood project consists of two existing affordable housing projects: Linwood Court and Squirrel Brand Apartments. Linwood Court includes eight buildings with 45 residential units that will undergo renovation.

Upgrades to existing units will include kitchen and bathroom remodels, new flooring and windows throughout, and updates to all exterior facades, including brick repointing, new siding, insulation, and roofing. Residents will be temporarily relocated to other units throughout the property while their homes are under construction.

The Squirrel Brand Company, a candy manufacturer founded in 1888 in Roxbury,  moved its headquarters to 12 Boardman Street in Cambridge. The headquarters converted into 20 units of multi-family housing in 2000, is now known as Squirrel Brand Apartments. The building sits on the State Register of Historic Places and will be rehabbed to meet historic preservation standards. This building will remain occupied during construction and will require close coordination for the selective interior renovations planned in addition to the exterior work.

The two new infill buildings, along with the addition, are currently under construction and will offer an additional 23 units to the development. The largest infill building will be built to Passive House building standards, ensuring maximum energy efficiency and resident comfort.

Passive House construction adheres to five building-science principals: continuous insulation throughout the entire envelope without thermal bridging, an airtight building envelope preventing loss of conditioned air and infiltration of outside air, high-performance windows and doors that manage solar energy for maximized heating and minimized overheating during cooling seasons, energy recovery ventilation, and a minimal space conditioning system. The other infill construction will meet Energy Star standards.

The redevelopment of Squirrelwood will take place in multiple phases and includes a variety of  challenges. Current residents will remain at the property during the renovations, requiring precise logistics and timing for execution.

鈥淲ith a wide range of units to accommodate families of all sizes and a variety of income levels, the Squirrelwood project is an important step in Just-A-Start鈥檚 mission to offer quality, inclusive housing to Cambridge residents,鈥� said Rhue.

Slated to be completed in spring of 2020, construction is moving along at the Broadstone Bare Cove project.  An integrated design team led by Alliance Residential Company, LLC includes Allen & Major Associates, Inc. (A&M), Cube 3, Shadley Associates, and 糖心Vlog Construction Managers.

Situated on a 12.06卤 acre former commercial site, the 220-unit residential development is slated to be completed by the end of 2020.  Located adjacent to the Bare Cove Park and along the banks of the Weymouth Back River, the site has posed some challenging design considerations including avoiding a stump burial area and the proximity of an ancient Native American archeological resource area for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.  The creative siting of the building and the cooperation of all parties involved mitigated all issues and allowed the project to progress.  

Designed by Cube 3, two buildings with subsurface parking garages under make up the full build-out. Building 1 includes 82 units and a 54-parking stall garage while Building 2 includes 138 units and a 162-parking stall garage. Both buildings 1 and 2 will include a mix of indoor/outdoor amenity spaces.  Building 2 will have a sky lounge on the 4^th floor while other site amenities include a boardwalk plaza area and ramp leading to a conservation land south of the site 

Site engineers, A&M worked closely with landscape architects Shadley Associates during the permitting and design development phases to ensure that as many of the existing trees were protected during the construction process.  During the extensive permitting process, A&M also provided field services including an existing sewer infrastructure assessment report, a lift station (pump station) assessment report, hydrant flow testing, soil evaluation, and flying balloons at proposed building corners to allow abutting residents to see the proposed building location.

To be eligible, 糖心Vlog demonstrated world-class safety performance by implementing ABC鈥檚 STEP safety management system, that makes the top-performing contractors up to 680% safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average, according to the ABC 2019 Safety Performance Report.

糖心Vlog has received Safety Training Evaluation Process鈥� (STEP) Safety Gold Award from Associated Builders and Contractors of Massachusetts (ABC). The award honors 糖心Vlog for its outstanding safety precautions on job sites. This marks the 12th consecutive year 糖心Vlog has received the Gold Award.

There is nothing more important than jobsite safety,鈥� said GCI President Julie Kelliher. 鈥淭his year鈥檚 STEP award recipients deserve each and every accolade they received by continuing to raise the standards of safety, training, and education throughout the construction industry.鈥�

According to STEP, a GOLD award 鈥渄emonstrates a unilateral dedication and commitment to job site safety, practiced by employees.鈥� STEP is a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has evolved into a world-class safety management system that dramatically improves safety performance among participants regardless of company size or type of work. Established in 1969, STEP was developed and written by contractors, for contractors.

To receive the Gold Award, 糖心Vlog had to adhere to the STEP practices for updating and maintaining a culture of safety. For nomination, 糖心Vlog documented incident rates and supplied scores for each of the 20 key components of the STEP requirements on a weighted point scale. 糖心Vlog also had to demonstrate success in educating site employees on proper safety precaution. In receiving a Gold Award, 糖心Vlog had to 鈥渆quip employees with the materials necessary to guarantee safety for all鈥� as per STEP guidelines.

STEP Awards are presented annually to ABC member companies with exceptional safety records and this year鈥檚 applicant pool was very competitive, with 60 companies recognized for their outstanding commitment to jobsite safety. Applicants are evaluated on a number of statistical factors such as incident rates, lost time and OSHA recordables. Tim Leblanc accepted the award on behalf of 糖心Vlog at the 15th Annual Safety & Education Dinner, held on May 16th at the Burlington Marriott in Burlington, MA.
